Privacy and cookies
1. Who we are

For UK data protection law we are the controller of the personal data described here: we decide what is collected and why.
2. What we collect
The quote form. Your name and email address (required), and, if you choose to give them, your phone number, where the vehicle was built, its make, model and year, and anything you write in the message box.
Calls and emails. Whatever you tell us when you contact us directly.
Documents, if you use our service. The papers your import needs, such as purchase invoices, registration documents and proof of identity. We ask for these at that point, not through the website.
Collected automatically. Your IP address, browser and the pages you visit, in our server logs and through Google Analytics (see section 6).
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To answer your quote request: steps taken at your request before a contract, or our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.
- To handle your import once you engage us: performance of a contract.
- To keep the customs and tax records the law requires: legal obligation.
- To understand how the website is used and improve it: our legitimate interest (see section 6).
We do not sell your data and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing.
4. Who we share it with
- HMRC and the DVLA, when we handle your import, because the customs declaration, NOVA and registration cannot be done without them.
- Transport companies and other partners, only where your import needs them.
- Our hosting provider (Hostinger), which stores the website, form requests and our email.
- Google, which provides Google Analytics (section 6).
- Professional advisers or authorities, where the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
- Quote requests that do not become a job: up to 2 years, then deleted.
- Imports we have handled: at least 6 years after the end of the tax year concerned, because customs and tax law requires it.
- Server logs: a short period, normally no more than 12 months.
6. Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files your browser stores. This website uses Google Analytics cookies (names starting with _ga, kept for up to 2 years) to count visits and see which pages and guides people read, so that we can improve them. Google Analytics runs for every visitor. Google processes this data for us and may process it outside the UK: see Google's privacy policy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
The website also keeps a note in your browser (mi_cookie_notice) once you close the cookie notice, so it does not appear again. Our guides count how many times each one is read: that counter records the page, not who you are.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can stop Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on. The website works without cookies.
7. Your rights
You can ask us, free of charge, to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or send it to you in a portable format. Email info@motorhomeimport.co.uk and we will reply within one month.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator.
8. Security
The website runs over an encrypted connection and the file holding form requests is stored outside the public part of the website, where it cannot be opened from a browser. Access is limited to the people who handle your request.
9. Changes
If we change this policy, the new version appears on this page with a new date at the top.
